Unique continuation and Runge approximation properties generalize the well-known facts that holomorphic functions vanishing in a subset must vanish identically and that they can be approximated by polynomials (under mild conditions on the set of analyticity). In this talk I will review some of these dual properties for both local and nonlocal operators.
We will see some applications, including the flexibility in the distribution of local hot spots for parabolic equations, and we will discuss their relevance in inverse problems.

María Ángeles García-Ferrero (León, 1991), ganadora del Premio José Luis Rubio de Francia 2019, es Doctora en Matemáticas por la U. Complutense de Madrid. En 2019 recibió el Premio Vicent Caselles de investigación matemática de la RSME y la Fundación BBVA.
Después de terminar su doctorado en el ICMAT bajo la dirección de Alberto Enciso, se incorporó al Instituto Max-Planck de Matemáticas en las Ciencias de Leipzig (Alemania). Actualmente es investigadora postdoctoral en la Universidad de Heidelberg (Alemania).
Sus intereses científicos incluyen las ecuaciones en derivadas parciales, la mecánica de fluidos, el análisis geométrico, los problemas inversos y la física matemática.
